Ryan Gosling's Not Dead: Enough with the Celebrity Death Hoax

Hey girl, you can stop sobbing uncontrollably, because Ryan Gosling is alive and well. As if The Notebook isn't enough of a tear-jerker already, on Tuesday the disreputable Global Associated News reported that the Canadian heartthrob fell 50 feet to his death while filming a movie in the Kitzbühel Alps.

Gosling is just the latest victim of the Internet's most boring trend: The celebrity death hoax. It seems we're now hearing about celebrities' unexpected and totally bogus deaths at a rate of about two per week, and in the past few months death rumors have circulated about Justin Bieber, Bon Jovi, Snooki, Usher, Chris Brown, Reba McEntire, Patrick Dempsey, Paul McCartney, Ja Rule, and even Boo, the "world's cutest dog."

As fans of April Fool's Day pranks and every online meme from LOLCats to Rickrolling, we find this prank totally puzzling. The reports themselves are never amusing. It's not like we're told that Bieber was trampled by a pack of lovesick fans, or that Snooki OD'ed on a chemical in self-tanner. All the hoaxes prove is that information spreads fast on Facebook and Twitter, which we already knew, and the prank is over as soon as a celebrity says, "Hey, I'm not dead."

People of the Internet, we hate to say this, but we're truly disappointed in you. Celebrity death hoaxes are pointless and unfunny, and frankly we expect more of you. Remember when you convinced everyone that Paul from the Wonder Years was Marilyn Manson and that Lady Gaga was a dude? That was some good stuff. If you're going to spread lies about celebrities, at least be creative. The folks at Snopes.com need something juicy to debunk, and we're long overdue for a good urban legend about gerbil-related sexual activities.

Heidi Klum Poses Nude & Opens Up About Her Divorce From Seal

When it comes to posing nude, Heidi Klumobviously has nothing to fear. The mom-of-four wows in the new issue of Allure magazine, showing off her toned figure and proving that 38 is the new 28!
"I'm proud to be able to say, in this day and age, I haven't done anything," Heidi tellsAllure of going under the knife. "Everyone has a view of what's not pretty, and [plastic surgery] just doesn't look pretty to me."
So how does her skin look so flawless and fabulous?
"I learned not to go in the sun early on in my career. A tan lasts for a week or two before it fades, and the sun is so damaging — it's not worth it," Heidi reveals. "I put sunscreen on my kids every day before school and before they play outside. They know the routine."
Sadly though, LeniHenryJohan and Lou's day-to-day routine has had to change due toHeidi and Seal's decision to divorce. And although it's hard, Heidi says she's taking baby steps and trying to move forward.
"I had dreams of how I wanted things to be and planned for things and, as we all know today, they don't always turn out as you dreamt them in your head," the model explains.
"Sometimes life throws you a curveball and then you just figure it out and deal with it, but my dream always was that," she adds, "to have the perfect family and have lots of children and a beautiful garden and trampolines and swings and things."
So, things might not have turned out like she planned, but Heidi has absolutely no regrets.
"No, I don’t resent anything that ever happened," she says. "Things just turn out the way they turn out."

Johnny Depp sued after security team gets rough with disabled woman

News flash: Not every woman wants Johnny Depp to tear her clothes off.
In a lawsuit filed Monday, the "Pirates of the Caribbean" heartthrob has been accused of directing his security detail to forcibly remove a disabled woman from her VIP seat in Depp's vicinity at an Iggy and the Stooges concert. She claims she was moved so roughly that her clothes were "disheveled" and her shoes came off, and another time so that her pants came down, "exposing her buttocks" to other concertgoers.
The "Bully"-championing star's camp hasn't yet responded to a request for comment.

Tupac's Coachella Hologram And The Rise Of The Not-So-Live Revue

On Sunday, Tupac Shakur thrilled audiences at Coachella, which was rather notable, considering he's been dead since 1996.
Of course, it wasn't actually Tupac who shared the stage with Dre and Snoop, but rather a hologram, one that cost nearly a half-million dollars to make and probably would've blown the collective minds of 100,000 stoned white kids ("BRO, I JUST SAW TUPAC'S GHOST") had reports of its Coachella premiere not leaked early.
And while it wasn't the first time this level of trickery has been employed live — Madonna used the same technology at the 2006 Grammys when she performed with the Gorillaz, as have well-moneyed folks like Celine Dion and the Black Eyed Peas (not surprisingly, a holographic pop star has also been selling out venues in Japan since 2010) — Holo-pac represents something else ... something a tad more unsettling. Because, to the best of my knowledge, this was the first time anyone decided it would be a good idea to resurrect a long-dead music icon for the sole purpose of a performance.
I'm willing to bet it won't be the last. Whether or not that's a good thing is largely up to you.
Part séance, part neo-necromancy, Holo-pac also almost certainly heralds the coming of a brave new era of revenue-grabbing, legacy-tarnishing spectacle. At the moment, beaming your favorite deceased star onto a stage night after night is probably cost prohibitive, but soon, it won't be. And once that final hurdle falls, how long until every hotel in Las Vegas is lining up their own digital Elvis Presleys, Michael Jacksons or John Lennons for full-blown revues? In 2010 alone, Jackson's estate generatedmore than $170 million in revenue, so how much would fans pay to see him, uh, "live"? The mind boggles, and, to be honest, the heart aches.
Because, sure, while the estates of each star would have to sign off on any of this, that didn't stop Kurt Cobain — dead since 1994 — from inexplicably showing up as a playable character in 2009's "Guitar Hero 5," sad proof that anything is possible if the folks in charge of an artist's legacy are desperate enough for cash. And if that bothers you even in the slightest, imagine how you'd feel to see Cobain's hologram flailing around on stage, puppet-like, while a faceless backing band bashes through the Nirvana catalog? It's a pretty gross idea, yet it's not all that inconceivable (but you can take solace in the fact that they'd definitely do a real good job rendering his green cardigan).
And yes, I understand there is a market for all of this. The idea of seeing the Beatles or Jimi Hendrix live is appealing even to me. But if you care even the slightest bit about the legacies of your favorite artists, then you probably don't want their likenesses exploited for anything, let alone a borderline ghastly holo-deck puppet show. And to be honest, the appeal of most great, long-gone artists lies in the fact that they're no longer with us: They are certainly timeless, yet they are also of a certain time. They define an era, an ethos, and they most certainly don't deserve to be resurrected. Or exploited. And if you're a real fan, well, you should probably be nodding in agreement right now.
And I think that's the deep, dark secret about this whole Holo-pac thing. Sure, it looked cool, but wasn't it also just a touch ghastly? Here was Shakur's digital ghost, "rapping" and posturing, giving a shout-out (thatsomeone had to record for him) to a festival that didn't come into existence until three years after his death. I'd like to think that, were he still with us, 'Pac wouldn't have done any of this, and maybe I'm in the minority with that opinion, but I suspect that most of his fans agree with me — to say nothing of the fact that, since he's been killed, we are unwilling to actually put Tupac in the grave, which only made the whole thing feel even more ghoulish (by all accounts, Snoop didn't seem to have a problem with it, though that's probably because he sees holograms roughly 25 percent of the time anyway).
And who's to say what happens next? Could the Rolling Stones just swap out living, decrepit Keith for vibrant, slightly-less-decrepit 1965 Keith, or bring back Brian Jones just for the heck of it? Would Vans purchase the rights to Sid Vicious's visage just to put him front-and-center on a summer tour? How long until we watch holo-Bonham do the "Moby Dick" drum solo at a corporate retreat in Aspen? All of these things seem like longshotsnow, but when you leave an artist's legacy in the hands of anyone, well, strange things are bound to happen. Kind of like Tupac showing up at a polo field in California. To live and die — and rise again — in L.A. ... or very near to it, at least. Welcome to the future.

Kelsey Grammer's Ridiculous Tattoo for Wife: Celebrities' Most Regrettable Ink

Kayte Walsh should be very concerned about her marriage to Kelsey Grammer, and not because she's his fourth wife. Over the weekend, Grammer got Walsh's first name tattooed on his right hip (a spot usually reserved for little heart tattoos on starlets). Ostensibly, inking your beloved's name on your body is an extremely romantic gesture, but often it's more like a warning sign of impendind relationship doom.

Sure, there are some couples who are still going strong despite sporting an inky ode to their love. However, for every Nick Cannon, who has a giant "Mariah" tattoo on his back, there are ten stars looking into laser removal. Here's a list of Hollywood's biggest tattoo cautionary tales. It may be too late for Grammer, but we can still save Kim Kardashian's butt from being tarnished with a tragic "Kimye" tattoo.

Kat Von D
Dating a man whose name is synonymous with cheating was never a good idea, but Kat Von D took things a step further by having a childhood photo of Jesse James emblazoned under her left arm. They ended their engagment for good in September 2011 amid (surprise, surprise) cheating rumors.

Christina Aguilera & Jordan Bratman
Christina Aguilera's tattoo tribute to ex Jordan Bratman may have foreshadowed their marital troubles. When she got married in 2005, the Voice coach got the Spanish words "Te Amo Siempre" (I love you forever) and two Hebrew letters for "JB" on her inner elbow. She also had "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine" tattooed in Hebrew on the small of her back, and Bratman got a tattoo of the phrase "I love CA forever." Now that they've split, Aguilera doesn't have to have "JB" removed from her arm, because she mistakenly used the Hebrew characters for "12" instead of his initials.

Marc Anthony
It seems Marc Anthony has learned something about having your ladyfriend's name permanently etched on your body. While the inside of his right wrist used to read "Jennifer" as in J. Lo, in January he had it covered. He turned it into a tattoo of the Statue of Liberty, ostensibly as a tribute to new girlfriend Shannon De Lima. It represents how she "freed" him from his past, but he can declare it symbolizes liberty in general (or his love of Ghostbusters 2) if they every split.

Britney Spears & Kevin Federline
During their relationship Britney and K-Fed got matching tattoos to commemorate their status as the poster children for tackiness. In 2004 they each had a pair of poorly-drawn dice inked on their wrist, with hers in pink and his in blue. It turns out the Hollywood girl wasn't so lucky — they got divorce in 2006.

Paris Hilton & Nick Carter
According to Paris Hilton, there's nothing more romantic than putting your partner's name on your butt. During their seven-month relationship, Hilton had Nick Carter's name inked on her right butt cheek and he wrote "Paris" on the inside of his wrist. When their relationship came to an end three weeks later, they both had their tattoos removed, and he replaced her name with a skull and the phrase "Old Habits Die Hard."

Tom Arnold & Roseanne Barr
One ill-advised tattoo simply wasn't enough for Tom Arnold and Roseanne Barr. She had "Property of Tom Arnold" written on her upper thigh, and he got four Roseanne-related tattoos during their marriage, inlcuding the word "Rosey" on his butt cheek and a gigantic portrait of her on his chest. He had all signs of their love affair removed after their split and she covered hers with another tattoo.

Angelina Jolie
Even after several tattoo mishaps, Angelina Jolie is still treating her skin like a dry erase board. While dating Timothy Hutton she had an "H" placed on the inside of her left wrist, which she now claims is for her brother James Haven. Next she and husband Jonny Lee Miller got matching Japanese character tattoos. Later she covered the symbol with a Tennessee Williams quote. While married to Billy Bob Thornton, she had his first name tattooed on her left shoulder and another in a "private" place. The spot on her arm now features coordinates for the birthplaces of her children, as well as current fiance Brad Pitt.

Johnny Depp
The award for most infamous tattoo alteration of all time goes to Johnny Depp. While engaged to Winona Ryder he had "Winona Forever" tattooed on his right shoulder. He explained at the time, "I love Winona. I'm goign to love her forever. Putting her on my arm solidified it. Tattoos are extremely permanent." Well... not quite. After their breakup he had the "na" removed so his arm now bears a touching tribute to drunkenness: "Wino Forever."

Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp Make Cameo in New Paul McCartney Video

Who knew Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman were versed in sign language? The two Academy Award nominated actors show off their hidden talent in the new Paul McCartney video, "My Valentine," where they sign the words to the newly released song. The ex-Beatles singer opted to stay behind the camera, choosing instead to direct one of the two original songs off his new album, Kisses on the Bottom, which features a collection of songs he grew up listening to.

The album was released in February, but on Friday night the British singer and songwriter debuted the video at his daughter Stella McCartney's LA clothing store. The exclusive screening party drew stars likeGwyneth PaltrowReese WitherspoonKristen Stewart, and Zooey Deschanel.

McCartney filmed three versions of the video: one featuring both actors, the other two with each individually. This is not the first time Portman has appeared in a McCartney music video as she can also be seen in 2007's "Dance Tonight."  Not to be outdone, Depp is also shown plucking away at the guitar — his solo later gets mixed into the song's final track.

Do you like the video? What do you think about the stars' secret talents?
